Structural unemployment

Structural unemployment occurs when the demand for goods and services in a particular industry continually falls, thereby reducing the demand for particular labour skills, that is, when there is a long-term (permanent) decline in the demand for labour in a specific industry. It arises from the skills mismatch between the jobs available in the economy and the skills of the available workers in the labour market.
